Amy Craddock spent 8 years in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate. I spent both enlistments stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. During her time in the Navy, she made several deployments overseas during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She left the Navy after the last deployment to start her family, and has four daughters and now two grandsons. She was a stay-at-home mom for close to 12 years before moving back into the workforce, working with the Brevard County Public Schools, and later as a Legislative Aide for one of the Brevard County Commissioners. She also worked with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Human Resources. In 2020, she chose to make the leap from the public sector to the private sector by taking a position at GenH2, a liquid hydrogen infrastructure company.
Diana DiNicola has loved art since her childhood. She enjoyed drawing and painting during her early years but lost touch with her artistic side when she went to high school. She then went to Virginia Tech to study Finance and spent a decade in that field. It wasn’t until she decided to stay at home to raise her children that she rekindled her passion for art.
Her journey of rediscovering artistic passion began with painting flower pots and then expanded over the years to hand-painted glassware, custom designed guitars, pickguards and drum heads, mixed media and abstract art, mosaics, signs, logos, and several murals in schools, businesses and private homes.
During this time, Diana also created an art camp program that she offered to children and teens in her community. Seeing how the participants were positively affected by the art they created touched something inside her. Subsequently, she began a journey of giving back. She was able to share art as a universal language that not only opened new perspectives, but also brought hope and healing. She offered expressive art workshops and organized community murals in homeless shelters, in teen residential treatment centers, to teens aging out of the foster care system, to soldiers suffering from PTSD, and to children and adults on mission trips.
All of this, as well as having teen girls who struggled with anxiety and depression who chose art as one of their coping tools, led to the creation of Healing HeARTS Mobile Art Studio in 2016. Since then, Diana has offered expressive arts and self-care resources to the community for hope and healing.
To continue growing and learning in her practice, Diana has completed many art workshops, classes and certifications, including:
Rebecca Parson’s Studio
The Faux School
Brandman University
Vision Board Institute
CoLaborers International
Mindful Schools
Center for Adolescent Studies
Diana currently makes her home in Rotonda West, Florida, with her husband, three dogs and a cat.
The Healing Hearts toolkits have been a wonderful resource to use working with students. Since the pandemic began, I have noted a marked increase in anxiety and depression. I am working with a couple of students who are experiencing significant stress in their home environment. Thank you so very much for advocating for and providing these kits, they have provided warmth, laughter, and smiles for very deserving children.
I have several students who have been hospitalized this year for self harm etc. and we are trying to support them with positive coping skills. Thank you so much for all that you do. We really appreciate you.
We have had amazing results using the boxes. We use the boxes to help children who have experienced trauma to express themselves using alternative healthy methods. This program is fantastic and much needed in our community. The only way to improve would be to make the program available to more students.
I am impressed by the whole box, from how the box itself is organized to all of the items in it. However, I really appreciate the booklet inside that describes the box, how it can be used, other coping skills that can be used, and a spot for a self-care plan. As a school social worker and a licensed clinical social worker, this is a big part of what we are helping students to learn. It's so awesome to have this resource to share with the kids!
“This workshop was amazing. I loved the way it was run, the way it was altered to fit the virtual setting, and the way the participants engaged. So wonderful!”
“This was such an incredible experience. I hope many more people get to do it. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is thinking of trying it.”
“It encouraged me to start some activities that I forgot brought me peace again.”
“It was the first moment in a while where I was able to stop the rapid busy and stressful stream of thoughts racing and just be quiet and peaceful by using art as an expression.”
I am writing to express my thanks for the Self Care Toolboxes that you sent to our Counseling Center. I shared the news of your kindness and passed one of the Toolboxes around at our staff meeting this morning, and it was clearly a boost to everyone’s morale. I also circulated your business cards and promotional sheet in hopes that our staff may reach out to you if their clients might benefit from the products and services that you offer.
